Recently we drank some wine in a paper bottle. Ii can't remember which wine it was so it would not have been a high quality one. I think it is quite a good idea as long as the bottle is recyclable. The wine in the paper bottle is stored in a plastic pouch much like the wine in a box. The advantage of this type of wine delivery is that it is cheaper to bottle and the bottles are lighter so it is cheaper to transport them. It is also easier on your back if you are taking a couple of bottles to a party, a barbeque or picnic.
Some of the disadvantages are: that the wine won't keep as long as wine bottled in glass; it is less romantic if you are trying to impress a potential girlfriend or boyfriend by de-corking a conventional bottle;; and it is not suitable for laying down good wine, as I doubt that wine that is worth aging the wine produced for these bottles.
Litter is another problem, as irresponsible people could leave them lying around after a picnic or barbeque in a public place, but this could apply to all other sorts of enclosures.
All in all, I think it is a good idea provided the whole of the packaging can can be disposed of in environmentally friendly way. There is no doubt that the idea will catch on , so three cheers for the inventors and designers.
